In Rolling Hills Estates, where you place your dump trailer determines whether a permit is needed:
Private Property (No Permit Needed): If the dumpster fits completely on your private driveway, equestrian lot, or private job site, no permit is required.
Public Street Placement (Permit Required): If your dump trailer needs to sit on a public road or right-of-way, you must obtain a Right-of-Way or encroachment permit from the City's Public Works Department before delivery day. Additionally, all haulers of construction and demolition (C&D) waste must obtain a separate City permit to operate within Rolling Hills Estates, and 65% of C&D debris must be recycled per California state law.
Note: Rolling Hills Estates has an exclusive franchise agreement with Waste Management for scheduled solid waste collection. This covers routine pickup not on-demand dump trailer rentals. South Bay Haul operates legally for these services.

We assess grade and access before scheduling steep grades may require on-property delivery instead of curb placement. Our dump trailer is pinned against rolling on inclines, and we use protective boards on all surfaces. For horse properties with gravel or decomposed granite driveways, we take extra care to avoid surface damage. Flagging any overhead obstacles when you book helps ensure a smooth delivery.

California state law requires verification that 65% of C&D debris is recycled on applicable Rolling Hills Estates projects, and the City requires documentation at project completion. We route clean concrete, dirt, green waste, and cardboard to certified South Bay diversion facilities. We do not accept: paint, liquid waste, motor oil, tires, batteries, asbestos, propane tanks, medical waste, solvents, pesticides, or refrigerants. Household hazardous waste can be disposed of at the LA County SAFE Center at 1400 N. Gaffey St., San Pedro (Saturdays and Sundays, 9am–3pm).
