In Rancho Palos Verdes, where you place your dump trailer determines whether a permit is needed:

• Private Property (No Permit Needed): If the dumpster fits completely on your private driveway or within your property boundary, no encroachment permit is required.

• Public Street Placement (Permit Required): Any dump trailer placed at the curb or in the public right-of-way requires a Dumpster Encroachment Permit from RPV's Public Works Department at (310) 544-5252. The application includes a site plan, and City staff review aerial photos to confirm street grade. Streets with a grade of 6% or greater require additional review before approval. South Bay Haul prepares the permit application and site plan on your behalf just let us know street placement is needed when you book.

RPV's canyon roads, switchback driveways, and slope variance across neighborhoods require careful pre-delivery planning. The City specifically evaluates street grade (6% threshold) as part of the permit process for curb-side our 10-yard dump trailer. We assess grade and access for every RPV delivery many properties have long enough driveways that the dump trailer can be placed entirely on-site, bypassing the permit process. Dump trailers are pinned against rolling on any inclined placement, and protective boards are used on all surfaces. Overhead clearance varies significantly on canyon roads note any low-hanging trees or overhead lines when booking.

RPV's encroachment permit process includes a recycling component the City maintains a preferred recycler list, and recycling is offered at a discounted rate. California law requires diversion of C&D debris on applicable projects. We route clean concrete, dirt, and green waste to certified South Bay facilities. We do not accept: paint, liquid waste, motor oil, tires, batteries, asbestos, propane tanks, medical waste, solvents, pesticides, or refrigerants. Household hazardous waste can be disposed of at the LA County SAFE Center at 1400 N. Gaffey St., San Pedro (Saturdays and Sundays, 9am–3pm).
