Lomita sits within unincorporated Los Angeles County, so where you place your container determines whether a permit is needed:

• Private Property (No Permit Needed): If the dumpster fits completely on your private driveway, private parking space, or within a designated commercial loading area, no permit is required.

• Public Street Placement (Permit Required): If your container needs to sit on a public road, alleyway, or public right-of-way, you must obtain a Road Encroachment Permit from the LA County Department of Public Works before delivery day. Permits are valid for up to 7 consecutive days. The Westchester field office serves this area at (310) 649-6300. Lomita's residential streets are compact and driveways often have tight approaches. We size our our 10-yard dump trailer to fit without damage our drivers use protective planks under the dump trailer wheels to guard your driveway surface. For most Lomita home projects, a 10-yard dump trailer sits cleanly on a standard driveway, eliminating the need for a street permit altogether. If your driveway can't accommodate the trailer, we'll work with you on the best placement option.

We divert clean materials concrete, dirt, green waste, and cardboard away from landfill where possible, using certified South Bay transfer and recycling facilities. Items we cannot accept in any container include: paints and liquid waste, motor oil, batteries, tires, asbestos, medical waste, propane tanks, refrigerants, pesticides, and other hazardous materials. Household hazardous waste can be dropped off free at the LA County SAFE Center at 1400 N. Gaffey St., San Pedro (Saturdays and Sundays, 9am–3pm).
